History and Purpose

The 9/11 SHS Memorial Fund, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation established to honor the memory of five Seaford High School graduates who died in the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center.  The 9/11 Committee determined that the best way to honor the memory of those lost was to construct a permanent memorial on the grounds of Seaford High School.

The 9/11 SHS Memorial Fund, Inc. also honors the memory of those fallen on 9/11 by granting an annual Patriot Award to deserving graduating seniors of Seaford High School.  These monetary awards will be distributed in accordance with criteria established by the Patriot Award Committee, which reflects the characteristics of each of the five graduates who perished on September 11, 2001.  This organization will continue to oversee the preservation of the memorial and the annual granting of Patriot Awards.
